Inclement Weather Policy

On October 29, 2019 / By Marjo Stevens

Winter is right around the corner...

In the event that weather causes school to be delayed or cancelled, families will be notified via JMC Messaging. JMC contact information (including phone numbers and email addresses) should be verified and/or updated at the beginning of each school year and kept up to date as needed.

Radio stations (103.3 FM, 91.3 FM, 1360 AM) and TV stations (NBC, ABC, CBS and KPTH) will be alerted to any change in the SCS class schedule.

“Snow days” are built into the SCS yearly calendar and will be used if school is closed due to weather or an unexpected emergency.

Siouxland Christian School uses the following protocol when determining if school will be delayed or cancelled:

1. If Sioux City Community School District is cancelled or delayed, Siouxland Christian School will cancel or delay.

2. If three of the five school districts indicated on the following list delay or cancel, Siouxland Christian School will cancel or delay. The districts are: Dakota Valley School District, Ponca School District, Sergeant Bluff School District, Lawton-Bronson School District, and Hinton School District.

If a local school district closes where a student resides, or school districts between that student's resident district and SCS closes, parents may choose to keep their children home for safety concerns. This is considered a weather-related excused absence. Please communicate this with the office at 712-276-4732.
