What do you do at Siouxland Christian?
I am a resource teacher. I help students mainly with reading and math work.I am able to work with students side-by-side which is a great way to teach students. I can monitor exactly where the students are and can help correct errors immediately. It is rewarding to watch students' minds "click" to grasp a concept they didn't previously understand. We also talk about what is going on in the students' lives. I encourage the students and pray with them. I let them know that they are loved by God and by me.
If you could pass on any wisdom to our students, what would you share?
The wisdom I pass on to my students is what the Bible promises about Jesus in our lives. I want my students to know that Jesus loves them no matter what they do. When they do something wrong they can repent and always return to God - He is a forgiving God. God will never leave them or forsake them in good times and hard times. God wants relationship with them, not just religion. This relationship begins in this life and continues with Jesus in heaven for all eternity. The wisdom of God brings hope and help in our times of need.
Is there a Bible verse or quote/saying that you live your life by?
My favorite Bible verse is Proverbs 3:5-6 , "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths." Life is full of unexpected events and frustrations. I don't understand what is going on sometimes. That is when I especially call and lean on God. He is in control of everything by His sovereign wisdom and power. I lift every situation up to Him and trust that He knows best. He shows me the direction and steps to take as I wait on Him. I can trust in Jesus to help me and to bring me closer to Him.
